A girl’s guide to studying engineering at Uni.

Here is a quick list of 10 things I learned while studying civil/structural engineering at university.
1.Work and study hard to build your knowledge hence building your your confidence.
2.Girls are just as smart if not more intelligent than boys.
3.The boys don’t know everything.
4.Speak up when you know the answer.
5.Ask questions, you’re probably not the only one who doesn't understand a concept.
6.Boys actually enjoy having a girl on their team.
7.You don’t have to be ‘one of the boys’ to fit in.
8.Present yourself well and they will respect you.
9.Take chances and grab every opportunity that comes your way, as one of very few females there is bound to be interesting opportunities for you.
10.Be smart, be confident and just be you.

Hello 2019

I've taken some time out to think about the direction I want this blog to go in 2019.

The most important thing for me is that my values are clear from the start. Going forward, I want to set the tone for my content and audience.
So let's start here:
Things I've said Goodbye to in 2018:Hiding my Christian faith: I'm known for being all about productivity, personal development and a female engineer. As a woman of God, I am all those things and more.Fake friendships: being in a new city all I wanted to do was make new friends but as time went by I realised that some of these friendships do not align with my values and do not draw me closer to God. Wanting to control everything in my life - I need to trust God more, trust the process and walk in faith.
2 Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV) For we walk by faith, not by sight.
What I'm saying HELLO to in 2019:
Serving my church and being of service in my community Focusing on what God is leading me to do: Things that align with God'…

How to Create an Empowering Vision Board

What is a vision boardA vision board is a visual representation of your hopes, dreams, and goals. It is a collection of pictures and words put on a board (or paper). Creating a vision board allows you to see daily, all the things you want to do, have and be.

I can show you better than I can tell you, here are some of my vision boards. These represent different areas of my life and I plan to keep them for a while. This weekend I plan to create my 2018 vision board. Keep reading and I will explain the different types.

5 Ways to Build Intentional Friendships

We’ve all heard the saying: you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with. So it’s absolutely important to have the right type of people around you, this is your inner circle (your circle of influence).

It’s been proven that we can only have a deep connection with just 5 people at any one time. So if you look at the closest 5 people in your life right now they’re the ones you connect with and are influenced by on a daily basis. The other tens or even hundreds of people you know or call ‘friends’ are actually friendly acquaintances. You can have up to 150 of these people in your life but you can’t have true friendship or influence with so many people at once.

The biggest lesson I’m learning in my twenties is the importance of having and finding true friends. I’ve had to learn this lesson the hard way by getting hurt, bouncing back and knowing my values so that I can go out there and make better friendships.
1. Choose your Friends
My mother has always told me,
